troves kamakura

English Summary
On July 7th, Wander Kitchen launched a charity shop with the aim to contribute to the welfare of poor children. ‘Troves’ – meaning hidden property or treasure - is located one minute walk away from jenteco + café. The premise was previously used as jenteco’s warehouse. After renovation it has been transformed into our charity shop.
Our concept is to create a better tomorrow for underprivileged children by providing them their basic needs, such as food and medicine. We raise money by selling donated goods. Through Save the Children Japan, the entire sales made (after wages and rent are taken into consideration) will be forwarded to children in needs.
In the United Kingdom, charity shops enjoy great popularity - goods can be purchased at lower prices than its original and money received from sales is then donated to charitable organizations. People are free to donate unwanted goods as well as purchase others’ unwanted goods. Charity shops gain widespread attention and have become like any other ordinary shops.
The idea to open a charity shop in our beloved Kamakura started a few years ago. After our other shops within the WanderKitchen group reached stability, we decided that it was time for ‘Troves’ to launch.
The best way for us to raise money from our donations is to sell them in ‘Troves’. Sometimes items are not suitable for sale, perhaps because they do not meet legal requirements or are damaged. We request that you do not donate unsalable articles. Goods that are just sitting in your cupboard could benefit the lives of others, so why don’t you donate them? We will ensure that your good will WILL make a difference.
Clothes as relief goods would not make a huge impact on children’s lives, but money acquired from sales could be use to purchase medical treatment and food items. Clean up your house and save children’s lives at the same time! We really need your co-operation!!!
Please bring your donation to WanderKitchen project shops (See 'Donation'page in this site) or send them to troves, 1-20 Ohmachi 3chome, Kamakura-shi 2480007, Kanagawa, C.O.D.
